Funeral services slated Thursday for SWTJC cosmetology instructor

Uvalde, TX, September 1, 2020 - On Friday, August 28, Cheryl Hammer passed away at the age of 63.

She taught cosmetology for over 45 years including 17 years at her dream job with Southwest Texas Junior College. She recently married her devoted partner of 38 years. Cheryl will be missed so much by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Barbara Hammer, and her sister Susie Hammer.

Cheryl is survived by her spouse, Dora Luna, her daughter Tiffany and husband Craig Lauderdale. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen Cox and Alan Amundson; her sister Sandra and brother-in-law Richard Juarez and her nephews Rhyan and Joshua Juarez. She loved her grandchildren dearly: Taylor, Landon, Jaxon, Cruze, Abigail, and Charlie Lauderdale. She also leaves her puppies, Maxwell and Kennedy.

Visitation is September 2nd from 4-8 pm at G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 10 am September 3 at Sunset cemetery.
