Course instruction will be offered via online and hybrid distance learning modes of instruction for the Summer II Session, with courses meeting synchronously at scheduled times via Zoom or Teams. For the safety of our students and community, the May 2020 Graduation Ceremonies will be provided in a virtual format via YouTube on Saturday, July 11th. Visit our COVID-19 FAQs page for more information. SWTJC will observe summer hours through Friday, July 31st. Office hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The current work from home environment is still in place unless instructed otherwise.

Virtual Graduation Experience

Date of Virtual Ceremonies

The virtual ceremonies will be hosted on YouTube on Saturday, July 11th. All students who submitted graduation applications for May 2020 and declared “Yes” to participating in the ceremony have been sent a notice to their SWTJC College email.

How do I sign-up?

The company that SWTJC is collaborating with for our virtual ceremonies is Live Tassel. Students who submitted graduation applications and declared “Yes” to participating in the ceremony need to log-in to their SWTJC College Email. There will be a notice called “SWTJC Virtual Graduation Ceremony” and students will have access to a “link” to begin providing the following information: SWTJC College ID#, First and Last Name, College Email, Quote, and Photo. Once you have completed this information click on “Submit” at the bottom and you’re finished.

Please be aware that the deadline to submit your information online is June 1st at 6:00 pm.

All other information such as your college major(s) of study, awards such as PTK, cum laude, etc. will be provided to Live Tassel by the SWTJC Registrar’s Office.

Photos

If you haven’t done so already, please communicate with the campus Bookstore about ordering and picking up your cap and gown. It is recommended that the photo you will upload to Live Tassel is with the graduation ceremony regalia. For reference, the Bookstore contact information is the following:

Schedule of Virtual Ceremonies on Saturday, July 11th

There will be five virtual ceremonies overall which are listed below:

Ceremony 1 – Dual Credit & Early College High School: 11:00 am
Ceremony 2 – Health Sciences: 1:30 pm
Ceremony 3 – Business, Industrial, & Technical Studies:
 3:30 pm
Ceremony 4 – Public Safety & Human Services:
 5:30 pm
Ceremony 5 – Arts, Humanities, Communications & STEM: 
7:30 pm

All virtual ceremonies will be hosted on YouTube and SWTJC will publish the direct link on the website (www.swtjc.edu) prior to Saturday, July 11th. Upon completion of each virtual ceremony, they will be archived and remain on YouTube for future viewing.

Ceremony 1 will be exclusively for Dual Credit and Early College High School students for all programs regardless if it’s academic or technical.

Students participating in Ceremony 2-5 will be college-level (non-high school students).

Diplomas

All diplomas for eligible graduates will be mailed starting in the last week of June. Please be aware that diplomas and official transcripts will not be released until all student record holds with SWTJC have been cleared.

Graduation Information

Students who are eligible to graduate must complete and submit an application for graduation, which may be obtained in person or online. To obtain in person, Uvalde students must go to the Rodolfo R. and Dolores Flores Student Services Building (Registrar's Office). Applications can be picked up at the Administration Building of the Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Crystal City campuses.

May 2020 Spring Graduation Applications are being accepted until Friday, April 17th at 4:00 pm.

Summer 2020 (August) Graduation Applications will not be accepted until Monday, June 1, 2020. The deadline to submit for Summer graduation is Friday, August 7th at 4:00 pm.

Services for Graduates with Disabilities

Degree candidates with disabilities who need accommodations to participate in their Commence ceremony are asked to contact the Disabilities Services office. Please call (830) 591-7284 or send an email to tmcrow@swtjc.edu to set up an appointment to discuss the accommodation possibilities. Appointments can be made from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
