SWTJC Eagle Pass spring college day attracts big crowd

 

College Day Eagle Pass

Over 400 Eagle Pass high school seniors attended the College Day event on Thursday (March 7) in Eagle Pass.

High schools represented included Eagle Pass High School and C.C. Winn High School. The event was a partnership between Middle Rio Grande Development Council, Texas Workforce Commission and SWTJC.

"The turnout was great, and I believe it was a very productive day for all the students who attended," said outreach coordinator Michelle Torres.

A total of two $300 scholarships were awarded to students in attendance. Winners included Jesus Vasquez and Haley Vijarro.

Romelia Aranda, dean of workforce education said, "We were very pleased with the turnout, and I am very thankful for the continued support of the Workforce Solutions Middle Rio Grande for SWTJC."

Numerous prizes were awarded throughout the event including gift cards.

Students heard sessions on admissions, financial aid and student support services throughout the morning.

Students were treated to a team building and motivational speech by the Drum Café Company. According to their website, Drum Café is one of the world's leading interactive Team building, Conferencing, and Corporate Events Companies.
